Classical Music in Honduras
Classical Music in Honduras is a site dedicated to sharing and preserving Honduras's classical repertoire: its history, its institutions, and above all its composers.
At its center is the Anthology of Honduran Composers, a collection of biographies, scores, recordings, and audiovisual material that brings together a repertoire that is, in many cases, little known and hard to access.

History of Classical Music in Honduras
Classical music in Honduras did not develop as a continuous tradition, but as a fragmentary process tied to specific institutions. Its origins go back to the colonial period, when musical practice was primarily in the hands of the Church.
From the 19th century onward, with independence, the first expressions of music with a national character emerged, especially through military and civil bands. It was in the 20th century that a clearer institutional development took shape, with the founding of centers for musical education.
